Berries are in season, and berry trifle is a perfect summer dessert. For this, you will need a mix of your favorite berries, whipped cream and lady fingers or pound cake. Now, the pound cake is what makes this a super easy dessert to make or one that can take you 20-30 minutes. I used store bought short cake for our 4th of July dessert as I was in a rush. If you have a little more time you can use box pound or vanilla cake or make your own! We will try all the steps soon and will be posting a pound cake recipe. To add the homemade touch here, we made the whipped cream (see below).
To ensemble you can use cups (as pictured) or a deep container. One layer of whipped cream, pound cake squares, berries and layer to your liking – Enjoy!
Homemade whipped cream
Ingredients:
1 pint of heavy cream
1/2 cup of sugar (you can use up to 1 full cup depending on how sweet you want it)
2 spoons of vanilla extract or vanilla paste
Directions:
Pour the heavy cream, add sugar and vanilla & mix until firm. I love using vanilla bean or paste in addition to vanilla extract. Seeing the vanilla specks in desserts adds that extra detail.
