Hi There,
My name is Elvira, thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page! You’ll find that this blog is all about the recipes that have inspired me, the food that has allowed me to create memories with the ones I love, and ultimately the place where we have found pure happiness.
A little about me: I was born and raised in Bolivia, my mom is native to my home country and my dad was from Nicaragua. I grew up in a household where we cooked together all the time, sharing laughter and memories, particularly on the weekends. A lot of the recipes and posts you will find will be a mix of Latin/family inspiration, ones I learned through my mom, my dad & mother-in-law, as well as the recipes that challenged my creative side or inspired me.
The name for this page came through my desire to try and articulate what cooking truly means to me. Zest is the passion that fuels me and Memories is what drives me to continuously create and pass on to my little ones.
So what was the impetus behind this blog? At about 6 weeks after my second baby (Miss Mia) was born, I found myself constantly in the kitchen. For me, there is something about the love we put into making a meal, a cake, or a special drink for our loved ones. There is something so personal about the ingredients, the smell, the texture, and the taste that one shares that remind us of our happiest moments while simultaneously creating new ones.
I am lucky to have the biggest fans and supporters at home – especially my first love, and my oldest child, Sofia. They make me feel I have accomplished exactly what I set out to do through food – bringing them joy and creating new memories together. I am also so lucky to have an amazing tribe of friends and great husband that are pushing me to do this. They are the ones that remind me that we should go after dreams, and work through what we are passionate about.
Enjoy and I hope some of this inspires you to create your own memories!
